Curved Screen cuts off content
The corners of the screen have such a pronounced curve that they produce aesthetic defects on some apps 🤦️. There doesn’t seem to be cases where meaningful content is cut off the screen but it’s a glaring mistake. Read about it on Reddit.
Only one speaker
There are 2 grids at the bottom, but only the left one works, the other one is for aesthetic purposes only. It sounds fine but loses some stereo effect. Also, it’s easy to obstruct the working speaker with your hands when holding the phone. Read about it on the Official OnePlus forum.
Screen unlock precision
Usual fingerprint readers use capacitance sensors that are faster and more accurate than the optical sensor used by the OnePlus 6t. Although the optical sensor overcomes the problem faced by other manufacturers who have moved the fingerprint reader to the back, it’s just not as precise. Using it in combination with face unlock helps. On the plus side, it enables you to unlock the phone while it rests on any surface.
The size has its pros. Big size = big screen, enhanced by the very high screen-to-body ratio. Big size = big phone to hold. Sizes are 157.5 x 74.8 x 8.2 mm, weighing 6.5 ounces (185 g).
No headphone 🎧 jack
Unless you have invested heavily in wired devices, the lack of headphone jack should no longer be a problem. Nowadays there is a huge selection of Bluetooth headphones. For those who have spent a fortune on wired devices, the phone comes with a cable to connect them to the USB C port, as long as you are not charging your phone. Still, OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau previously said about Apple’s decision to drop the jack "Sometimes, industry trends go against our core beliefs. This is one of those times when we respectfully disagree on what it means to be courageous".

No wireless charging
I’ve come to really enjoy wireless charging. It’s effortless and kinda magical, albeit not very power efficient. The OnePlus 6t holds a very generous battery and features a very quick charging, but wireless charging would have been welcome.
Not waterproof certified
Videos of people dropping the phone in water for an extensive period of time and retrieving it unharmed will make you feel safer.
Still, a proper certification would have been good to have.
No notification light
Thanks to the heads up notifications you’ll get a chance of reading your incoming notifications. If you miss it then don’t expect a notification light to alert you, because after being a staple feature for many years OnePlus have now decided to drop it, presumably to allow for a thinner notch, which to be fair is one of the slimmest around.
No external memory
The OnePlus 6t comes with 128 GB of storage as a minimum, and maybe nowadays storage space is not as important anymore thanks to cloud storage ☁️. Still, the option would have been nice.
